Built for Apple Music. Private on your iPhone. Your library changes only when you explicitly choose Save to Apple Music.
Your library is bigger than your recent plays.
Years of saved music can disappear beneath recently played albums and familiar playlists. Playlist Orbit brings forgotten songs back into view without replacing the library or playlists you already built.
Features
Another spin for everything you saved.
Rediscovered Songs
Finds favorites that have been waiting the longest for another listen, using the play information Apple Music makes available.
Complete Cycle
Give every eligible song a turn before anything repeats. Skipped songs return later instead of disappearing.
Made for You mixes
Explore Rediscovered Songs, Recently Added, Most Played, Never Played, Recently Rediscovered, Time Capsule, and reusable custom mixes.
A queue you can shape
Play a song next, add it to the end, move an upcoming song, remove it, or remix what remains without creating accidental duplicate entries.
Listening Insights
See top songs, artists, comebacks, longest-away music, and recent additions across the history Apple exposes and the listening completed in Playlist Orbit.
Private preferences
Show songs more or less often, exclude songs or artists, and reset those choices later. Orbit preferences stay separate from Apple Music favorites.
How it works
Three steps to another spin.
Step 1
Connect Apple Music
Allow Playlist Orbit to read the saved songs and playlists needed to build queues.
Step 2
Choose how to listen
Start with Rediscovered Songs, open an Apple Music playlist, search for a song, or choose Oldest Mix, Complete Cycle, Shuffle Now, Never Played, or Fresh + Forgotten.
Step 3
Keep listening your way
Use the mini-player, full queue, Play Next, Add to Queue, Siri shortcuts, and the system AirPlay picker. Playback can continue while the phone is locked or the app is in the background.
Privacy
Private on this iPhone.
Playlist Orbit’s listening history, reports, and mix preferences are kept in protected storage on the device, backed up privately to your own iCloud account. The app does not track users, and NovoBuild never receives your listening data. It reads the Apple Music information needed to build queues and changes the user’s Apple Music library only after an explicit Save to Apple Music confirmation.
Questions
Honest answers, up front.
Does Playlist Orbit replace my Apple Music playlists?
No. It reads saved music to build queues inside Playlist Orbit. A new Apple Music playlist is created only after you choose and confirm Save to Apple Music.
Does it know every time I have played every song?
Not always. Apple Music does not provide complete history for every song. Playlist Orbit labels missing information honestly and adds on-device history for listening completed in the app.
What is Complete Cycle?
It is a no-repeat listening mode that gives every eligible song a turn before beginning another cycle. Skipped songs return later.
Do Show More and Show Less change Apple Music?
No. They shape future Playlist Orbit mixes only and remain separate from Apple Music favorites.
Can it play on HomePod or another speaker?
Yes. The full player includes Apple’s system playback-destination picker for AirPlay, HomePod, and other available routes.
Why does the lock-screen player open Apple Music?
Playlist Orbit uses Apple’s reliable system music player. Because Apple owns that system playback surface, tapping the Dynamic Island or lock-screen player may open Apple Music while Playlist Orbit continues maintaining its queue and history.
Does playback continue when the screen locks?
Yes. Playlist Orbit supports background audio and follows the iPhone’s normal screen-lock behavior.
What devices are supported?
Playlist Orbit is an iPhone app requiring iOS 18 or later and access to an Apple Music library.
