Playlist Orbit support
Everything here works without an account or login. If something still is not working, email support@novobuild.net and include your iPhone model, iOS version, and a description of what happened.

Quick start

Install Playlist Orbit on an iPhone running iOS 18 or later, then open it and allow Apple Music access so it can read your saved songs and playlists.

Start with Rediscovered Songs — one mix drawn across your saved library — or open an Apple Music playlist, or search for a song.

Pick a listening mode: Oldest Mix, Complete Cycle, Shuffle Now, Never Played, or Fresh + Forgotten.

Press play. Use the mini-player or the full player to see Up Next, shape the queue, and keep listening while the phone is locked.
Listening modes
Oldest Mix
Brings forward songs with the oldest verified play dates so long-unheard music surfaces first.
Complete Cycle
A no-repeat mode: every eligible song gets a turn before a new cycle begins. Skipped songs return later instead of disappearing.
Shuffle Now
Creates a new random order each time you start it.
Never Played
Uses only songs Apple verifies with zero plays. Songs with unknown history are not treated as never played.
Fresh + Forgotten
Blends recently added songs with music that has waited the longest for another listen.
Shaping the queue
Play Next
Moves a song to the very next position in the queue.
Add to Queue
Adds a song to the end of the current queue.
Move to End
Sends an upcoming song to the back of the queue without removing it.
Remove from Queue
Takes a song out of the current queue. Queue edits never create accidental duplicate entries.
Mix preferences
Show More / Show Less
Tell Orbit to feature a song more or less often in future mixes. These preferences shape Playlist Orbit only — they never change Apple Music favorites.
Exclusions
Exclude a song or an artist from future mixes entirely.
Reset preferences
Restore excluded songs and artists and reset Show More / Show Less choices later from the app’s preference settings.
AirPlay, HomePod, and the lock screen
Playing on another speaker
Open the full player and use Apple’s system playback-destination picker to send audio to AirPlay speakers, HomePod, and other available routes. Once iOS transfers playback to another device, further control follows Apple’s normal system behavior.
Lock screen and Dynamic Island
Playlist Orbit uses Apple’s reliable system music player. Because Apple owns that playback surface, tapping the lock-screen player or Dynamic Island may open Apple Music. Playlist Orbit keeps maintaining its queue and history in the background, and playback continues while the screen is locked.

Troubleshooting
Playlist Orbit cannot see my music
Open iPhone Settings, find Playlist Orbit, and confirm Apple Music (Media & Apple Music) access is allowed. The app needs this permission to read saved songs and playlists.
Songs will not play
Playback requires an active Apple Music subscription and songs that are currently playable in your region. Songs removed from Apple Music or unavailable offline may be skipped.
My library looks out of date
Recent additions can take a moment to appear. Pull to refresh the library view, and make sure Sync Library is enabled in iPhone Settings under Music.
A large playlist seems incomplete
Songs from a large playlist can appear incrementally while it loads. Full-playlist listening modes unlock after the entire playlist finishes loading. If loading was interrupted, use Retry Full Playlist.
The lock screen or Dynamic Island opened Apple Music
That is expected. Playlist Orbit uses Apple’s system music player, and Apple owns that playback surface — tapping it may open Apple Music while Playlist Orbit continues maintaining its queue and history.
