Modstack Support

Modstack is awaiting App Store review and is not yet available to download. The information below covers how the game works; it will be expanded after release. If you have a question it does not answer, contact NovoBuild.

Quick start

Objective: build a program that guides the robot through each circuit.

Stack command tiles into the program track, press Run, and watch the robot carry out your plan across 36 handcrafted circuits in six chapters.

The tile vocabulary

Move
Moves the robot forward one cell in its current direction.
Turn Left / Turn Right
Rotates the robot 90 degrees in place.
Mirror (modifier)
Swaps Left and Right on the command beneath it. Two Mirrors cancel out.
Repeat (modifier)
Executes the resolved instruction twice. Two Repeats execute it four times.

Common questions

How do I play?

Place command tiles into the program track, then press Run. The robot executes your program one slot at a time. Move, Turn Left, and Turn Right are base commands; Mirror and Repeat are modifiers you stack on top of a base command to transform it.

What does stacking do?

Each program slot holds up to three tiles: one base command plus modifiers. Mirror swaps Left and Right (two Mirrors cancel out). Repeat executes the resolved instruction twice, and two Repeats give four times. For example, Move + Repeat + Repeat moves the robot four cells from a single slot.

What is par?

Par counts the physical tiles you place, not the actions they produce. Any working program completes a circuit; matching or beating par is what demonstrates mastery. Failed runs explain what happened and your program stays intact between attempts.

What is the Daily Circuit?

One deterministic puzzle per difficulty — Easy, Medium, and Hard — each calendar day, built in the same puzzle language as the campaign. There are no streaks or pressure mechanics.

How much of the game is free?

The Foundations chapter and the Easy Daily Circuit are planned to be free, with a single one-time purchase unlocking the remaining circuits and difficulties. There are no ads, subscriptions, accounts, or in-game currencies.

Is my progress backed up or synced?

Progress is stored locally on your device. Modstack does not use an account or cloud sync, so removing the app or changing devices may remove locally stored progress.

When can I download Modstack?

Modstack is complete and currently awaiting App Store review. It is not yet available to download. This page will be updated when it goes live — you can also use the contact page to ask to be notified.

Troubleshooting

A puzzle seems impossible

  • Check the par target and the tiles available in the tray — some circuits deliberately limit which tiles you get.
  • Try the built-in hint or first-stack reveal; both are free in every puzzle.
  • Remember that relays power in order, and switches and gates change the board mid-run.

Reporting a problem

  • Note your device model, iOS version, and game version.
  • Note the chapter and circuit number, and what happened just before the problem.
  • Include a screenshot or screen recording when possible.
