Privacy Policy for LeanSignal

Overview

LeanSignal is developed and published by NovoBuild LLC. For information collected through the NovoBuild website and support channels, NovoBuild LLC is the data controller. The app itself is designed so that your health information stays on your device and is never transmitted to NovoBuild.

This policy distinguishes between three kinds of processing:

• Information processed by the LeanSignal app on your device.
• Information processed by the NovoBuild website or support channels.
• Information processed independently by Apple through the App Store, your device, or the Health platform.

No account, no advertising, no tracking

• LeanSignal has no account or sign-in of any kind.
• There is no third-party advertising, no cross-app tracking, and no behavioral analytics in the app.
• NovoBuild does not sell or rent personal or health data.

Information stored on your device

LeanSignal stores the following locally, on your device only:

• Profile details, goals, and measurement routines you set up.
• Measurements you record or import (weight, circumference, body-fat, lean-mass, skinfold, and DEXA entries).
• Interpretations the app derives, such as Signal Scores and working ranges.
• DEXA calibration references.
• Progress photos you add.
• App preferences, including reminder and privacy-lock settings.

There is no LeanSignal cloud synchronization and no developer-accessible server copy of this information.

Apple Health

• LeanSignal requests read-only access to Apple Health, limited to the measurement categories it interprets — such as body mass (weight), body-fat percentage, lean body mass, and waist circumference. Access is entirely under your control and can be granted or revoked per category at any time in the iOS Health app.
• Health records you import remain in LeanSignal until you delete them — even if you later revoke Health permission.
• LeanSignal does not write its estimates back to Apple Health in the current release.

Notifications

Optional measurement reminders are scheduled locally on your device and contain no measurement values.

Privacy lock

The optional privacy lock uses your device’s own authentication system (Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode). Authentication happens entirely on the device; NovoBuild does not receive biometric information.

Exports and backups

PDF reports, CSV exports, and full local backups leave the app only when you choose to share or save them. Please note that a full backup can contain your progress photos and sensitive health information — treat backup files with the same care as the app itself.

Deleting data

• You can delete individual entries, individual photos, or all local data from within the app.
• Deleting data inside LeanSignal does not delete the original record in Apple Health or the original item in the system Photos app.
• Deleting the app removes its local data store, subject to normal Apple device backup behavior (an old copy may persist inside a device backup you control).

Support requests

If you contact NovoBuild for support, we may receive information you voluntarily provide, such as your name, email address, device model, iOS version, LeanSignal version, a description of the problem, and any screenshots you attach. This information is separate from the app’s on-device data and is used only to respond to your request, diagnose problems, and improve the app. It is retained only as long as needed to resolve your request and keep a reasonable record of the correspondence, after which it is deleted. You may request deletion of your support correspondence at any time.

Please do not include Apple ID credentials, passwords, payment information, or health records beyond what is needed to describe your issue.

Website technical data

The NovoBuild website does not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking. Like most websites, our hosting provider may process standard technical information — such as IP address, browser type, timestamps, and referring pages — in server logs for security, reliability, and abuse prevention. This information is retained only as long as needed for those purposes.

Apple services

Apple independently processes App Store, device, and Health platform information under Apple’s own privacy policy. NovoBuild does not control Apple’s processing.

Adult use

LeanSignal’s body-composition methods are intended for people age 18 and older. The app is not directed at children, and NovoBuild does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your privacy rights

Because app data never reaches NovoBuild, most privacy requests can be completed directly on your device by deleting data inside LeanSignal. For website or support correspondence, you may request access, correction, or deletion at any time using the contact details below or the Data Request page.

Changes to this policy

NovoBuild may update this policy if LeanSignal’s features or legal requirements change. The effective date will be revised when material changes are made, and prior revisions are noted here.
